Application Process:
The Columbia School District Board of Directors has selected Educational Service District 123 to assist in the superintendent selection process.
A completed application will include:
- Formal letter of application
- Completed application form available at www.esd123.org/employment
- Current resume
- At least five, but no more than seven letters of recommendation
Application materials shall be submitted electronically using the ESD’s online hiring platform.
Applicants shall not contact school board members directly. Initial screening and preliminary interviews will be conducted by the Review Committee.
Position Timeline 2018:
- February 02- Application deadline
- February 12-13 - Screening reference checks
- February 19-20- Preliminary interviews
- March 9-10 - Final interviews (selection by the Board of Directors no later than March 26, 2018)
- July 01- Appointed superintendent reports
Qualities and Qualifications
The selected candidate should possess the following qualities and qualifications:
- Strong and open leadership style with unquestionable integrity, honesty, and diplomacy
- Positive and approachable with proven people skills
- Comfortable in front of small and large groups
- Outstanding communication skills, including intentional listening
- Focus on fostering teamwork across school and district buildings
- Demonstrated management within an educational setting, based on sound practices and the ability to successfully deal with difficult personnel issues
- Strong, proactive leadership in developing and maintaining a wide range of programs and resources that are essential to a small district
- Residence in the Columbia School District boundaries within a year of hire, with active engagement as a community member
- Knowledge of state school law and school finance
- Successful administrative experience in a school district or educational agency
Compensation:
The Columbia District School Board will negotiate a multi-year contract with a salary based on experience and qualifications that is competitive with districts of a similar size. Compensation will include an appropriate benefit package. |
